increase the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair
relieve pain (analgesia)
The red and near infrared light (600nm-1000nm) commonly used in LLLT can be produced by laser or high intensity LEDs. The intensity of LLLT lasers and LEDís is not high like a surgical laser. There is no heating effect, this is why they are called cold lasers.
The effects of LLLT are photochemical (like photosynthesis in plants). When the correct intensity and treatment times are used, red and near infrared light reduces oxidative stress and increases ATP. This improves cell metabolism and reduce inflammation. These effects can be enhanced with pulses however when analgesia is required there is a second mechanism which works best when a strong continuous beam is applied.
LLLT is popularly used for soft tissue injuries such as:-
Neuropathic (nerve) pain
Non-healing leg and pressure ulcers
Wound healing- including Pre and post surgical
Even stopping smoking
At Riverside Chiropractic Group we have two different types of probes: LED and LASER. The combination of both LASERs and LEDs deliver photons to both the superficial and the deep tissue. This means that our therapy is the best available and the most effective for natural healing.
How does it work?
LLLT works predominately on a protein in mitochondria (cytochrome c oxidase) to increase ATP and reduce oxidative stress. A cascade of mitochondrial and intracellular downstream effects lead to improved tissue repair and reduced inflammation.
Lasers and LED's produce intense beams of light at specific wavelengths. When the right wavelength at the right intensity is used at the correct anatomical location for the right amount of time you can stimulate repair, resolve inflammation and reduce pain.

How do I Book for laser therapy?
As always you call our friendly reception team - 01224 211517
You can email to book at one of our three clinics - email@example.com
Or you can book yourself online now by following our booking page link under the "chiropractic" option you will see a list and laser therapy is one of the options - https://riverside-chiropractic-group-ltd.cliniko.com/bookings#location
How much does it cost?
The laser for tissue healing and repair is most effective when done in a block as the healing will be much faster. A block of 5 costs only £150 altogether.
Individually the laser sessions are £50 but we do not recommend them in individual sessions due to the reduction in clinical outcomes.
What is the research telling us?
There are many studies - here are SIX strong SYSTEMATIC REVIEWS which HAVE FOUND IN FAVOUR OF LLLT
BMJ sports medicine journal, systematic review of surgical and conservative interventions for frozen shoulder found "strong evidence" for LLLT. (2010) Click here
The International Association for the Study of Pain (Global Task force on musculoskeletal pain) found "strong evidence" for Low Level Laser Therapy on myofascial pain syndrome. (2010) Click here
